Carpet Beetles in Bristol
There is more than one type of carpet beetle, so you may not immediately realise that you have an infestation (our free pest identification service can help –just email us a picture at: mail@thebristolpestcontroller.co.uk).
A typical carpet beetle resembles a ladybird, around 2-3mm long and with colouring that is brown/black, sometimes with yellow and white features. However, towards the end of the summer they can come indoors and lay their eggs near soft furnishings, carpets and curtains – usually the eggs are laid in air ducts, wardrobes or lounge furniture.
The resulting larvae are often called ‘woolly bears’, about 4-5mm long with brown hairs. They eat a range of organic material including cotton and wool, so they can cause serious damage.
The Bristol Pest Controller uses highly effective insecticides to eradicate infestations safely and completely – and to make sure that re-infestation does not occur (a common problem with DIY treatments).
